Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The potential of 2 -Hexyl-2 '-hydroxy-5 'methyldecananilide (AF-654) for ready biodegradability was investigated in a study by Desmares-Koopmans (2003). This test was performed according to EU Method C.4-C and OECD Guideline 301B under GLP conditions. The test substance was incubated, at a concentration of 15.5 mg/L (12 mg TOC/L), with activated sludge for 29 days at 21.9 - 23.1 °C. At the end of the test, AF-654 reached 4% biodegradation (mean value of two replicates). Since the pass level of 60% was not achieved, the test substance is considered to be not readily biodegradable. The results from the toxicity control containing test and reference substance (25% biodegradation within 14 days) indicate that AF-654 is not inhibitory to microorganisms’ activity.
