Executive summary:

A study was conducted according to OECD TG 115, Regulation (EC) No 440/2005 Part A, A.5, to determine the surface tension of an aqueous solution of the test item using the ring method. Therefore An aqueous solution of the test item in demineralized water with a concentration of 1032 mg/L was prepared and stirred for approx. 6 d. After adapting to 20 °C for 6 hours the measurement of the surface tension with the test item was carried out at 20 ± 0.5°C (20.2 °C). The measurements were repeated until 6 measurements were within the limits of the stability criterion. The surface tension of the aqueous solution at 20 °C and 1032 mg/L had a mean value of 16.2 mN/m. Thus, as the surface tension was lower 60 mN/m the test item had surface-active properties.
