Justification for type of information:
According to column 2 of REACH Annex IX long-term toxicity testing should be proposed by the registrant if the chemical safety assessment (CSA) indicates the need to investigate further the effects on aquatic organism. If the CSA indicates no risk, there are no further requirements for aquatic toxicity testing. Due to the insolubility of the test substance in water aquatic toxicity is not expected and testing is not justified. In addition, due to the high molecular weight, the molecules are unlikely to cross biological membranes. Insoluble or non-dispersible polymers generally have low aquatic toxicity hazard concern (regardless of charge).
