Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The determination was carried out by a ring method, using a procedure designed to be compatible with Method A.5 Surface Tension of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008 and Method 115 of the OECD Guidelines for the Testing of Chemicals, 27 July 1995.

The surface tension of 90 % saturated solutions of test item in water has been determined to be 58.0 mN/m at 21.4 ± 0.5 °C. The test item was considered to be surface-active.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Surface tension:
58
in mN/m at 20°C and concentration in mg/L:
12

Additional information

During method development it was indicated that the sample hydrolysed therefore short shake and stand times (1 hour) were used during preparation of the sample solutions.

On removal from the 20 °C equilibration, the samples assessed as containing excess test item. After clean up, the samples were visually clear with no excess test item.

Sample Preparation

An aliquot (0.12 g and 0.12 g for Sample 1 and Sample 2 respectively) of test item was diluted to 1000 mL with checked, in tolerance purified water.

Sample diluted to 90% of its former concentration with purified water.

Sample solution transferred to a clean measuring vessel.
