- Conclusions:
- In accordance with the ECHA Guidance on the Application of the CLP Criteria, Version 4.1, June 2015, a substance is not classified as explosive, when the organic substance contains chemical groups associated with explosive properties but the exothermic decomposition energy is less than 500 J/g and the onset of exothermic decomposition is below 500 ºC. In the test conducted, thermal decomposition took place at 138 °C (heat tone: -340 J/g) and at 223 °C (heat tone: -170 J/g). As these values are below the critical values specified, the substance is regarded to be non-explosive.
- Executive summary:
To investigate the explosive properties of the test item, it was tested according to guideline VDI 2263, sheet 1 - differential thermal analysis (DTA).
The heat tone of the themal composition at 138 °C was -340 J/g. A second exothermal reaction could be observed at temperatures > 223 °C with a heat tone of -170 J/g.
As the exothermic decomposition energy was less than 500 J/g, the test substance has no explosive properties in the sense of ECHA Guidance on the Application of the CLP Criteria, Version 4.1, June 2015.

- Conclusions:
- According to guideline VDI 2263, sheet 1, the test item is not sensitive to shock.
- Executive summary:
To investigate the explosive properties of the test item it was tested on sensitivity to shock according to guideline VDI 2263, sheet 1.
As in none out of ten test repetitions, no detonation was registered. Thus it can be concluded that the test-item is not sensitive to shock. A conclusion on the explosive porperties cannot be drawn from this test allone, as no additional information on test substance sensitivity to friction is available.

Description of key information
To investigate the explosive properties of the test item, it was tested according to guideline VDI 2263, sheet 1 - differential thermal analysis (DTA).
The heat tone of the thermal composition at 138 °C was -340 J/g. A second exothermal reaction could be observed at temperatures > 223 °C with a heat tone of -170 J/g.
There is also a supporting study available, which concludes, that the test substance is not sensitive to shock.
This information is used in a read-across approach in the assessment of the target substance.
For justification of read-across please refer to the attached read-across report (see IUCLID section 13).

Justification for classification or non-classification
In accordance with the ECHA Guidance on the Application of the CLP Criteria, Version 4.1, June 2015, a substance is not classified as explosive, when the organic substance contains chemical groups associated with explosive properties but the exothermic decomposition energy is less than 500 J/g and the onset of exothermic decomposition is below 500 ºC. In the test conducted, thermal decomposition took place at 138 °C (heat tone: -340 J/g) and at 223 °C (heat tone: -170 J/g). As these values are below the critical values specified, the substance is regarded to be non-explosive.
