Based on short term tests from each trophic level, the test substance can be regarded as actually not harmful to aquatic organisms. Short-term toxicological data of beta-alanine towards fish, daphnia and algae are LC/EC50 >100 mg/L. Also the inhibition of the degradation activity of activated sludge is not anticipated.
