Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
flammable solids
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a liquid
Endpoint:
pyrophoric liquids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be soluble in water to form a stable mixture
Endpoint:
flammable gases
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a liquid
Endpoint:
pyrophoric solids
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a liquid
Endpoint:
self-heating substances / mixtures
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a liquid

Description of key information

In accordance with Section 2 of Annex XI of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (REACH), the flammability study for solids or gases and self-heating is technically not feasible as the substance is a liquid. It is therefore considered justified to omit the solids/gases and self-heating study and conduct the more appropriate flash point study.

In accordance with section 1 Annex XI of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (REACH), it is considered justified to omit the studies to investigate the pyrophoric properties of solids and liquids and the flammability properties on contact with water (required in section 7.10 of Annex VII) on the grounds that testing is not scientifically necessary. Based upon the known chemical and physical properties of the substance, its chemical structure and experience in use, testing is predicted to produce negative results.

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

In accordance with the criteria for classification as defined in Annex I, Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, the substance does not require classification with respect to flammability.
