Description of key information

No toxic effects against algae were observed at the limit of water solubility (active ingredient) under exposure conditions (72 h-ErL50 > 91 mg/l). The results are expressed in terms of Effective Loading (EL) (Spoo-Kloeppel, 2015).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
91 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
91 mg/L

Additional information

"Should read: >91 mg/L"

The substance has not a definite or unique structure and consists of several components. Water Accommodated Fraction (WAF) was used to test effects. The stability of the test concentrations during exposure were examined by chemical analysis (DOC) and the limit of quantitation was 2 mg/L DOC.

The test was performed with 3-Isocyanatomethyl-3,5,5-trimethylcyclohexyl isocyanate, oligomers reaction product with '3-(cyclohexylamino)propane-1-sulfonic acid and N,N-dimethylcyclo-hexanamine' which was solved in 30% solution of 1-methoxy-2-propyl acetate (MPA). According to the OECD SIDS “1-METHOXY-2-PROPANOL-ACETATE” MPA was classified as "Not- hazardous" to aquatic organisms. The PNECacutewas determined as>1 mg/L for the aquatic environment. Therefore it can be assumed that MPA had no inhibitory influence on the toxicity measurement.
