Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

No long-term tests have been performed with fresh water or marine invertebrates, because a short-term experiment with Daphnia has shown a LC50 (EC50) > 100 mg/l water. TGIC is not expected to be present in significant quantities in the fresh and marine water area, and no significant toxicity is expected due to the hydrolysis TGIC undergoes in water (formation of 1,3,5-tris(hydroxypropyl)-1,3,5-triazine-2,4,6-(1H, 3H, 5H)-trione) which is toxicologically of minor significance. For instance Phloroglucinol (CAS-no. 108-73-6) is a constituent of marine algae which are eaten by invertebrates.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

TGIC is hydrolized in water rapidly to form 1,3,5-tris(hydroxypropyl)-1,3,5-triazine-2,4,6-(1H, 3H, 5H)-trione (half-life at pH 7 and at 20°C = 4.6 days), a substance of low toxicological properties as many alcohols.
