The reference substance Ester G was investigated for ready biodegradability in a closed bottle test according to OECD method 301C.

From the degradability results based on the BOD (av. 52%) and that of the residual amount of the test substance (av. 69%), it is concluded that the test substance is not readily biodegradable. No transformation product is generated under the conditions of this test as shown by comparison of HPLC data before and after the test.

Since all criteria for acceptability of the test were met, this study was considered to be valid.

In conclusion, Ester G is designated as not readily biodegradable.

No further studies on biodegradation are available and not required at the tonnage band of 1 - 10 T/a.
