Additional information

After exposure to soil, significant adsorption of 2,2-Dimethlypropane-1,3-diol to solid soil phase (e.g. clay) is not expected. From the water surface 2,2-Dimethlypropane-1,3-diol will not evaporate into the atmosphere. The distribution of 2,2-Dimethlypropane-1,3-diol between the environmental compartments was calculated by using the Mackay LEVEL 1 v3.00 programme (BASF 2016). The standard environmental properties for the calculation are drawn from a publication of Mackay (2001). Due to the results of the Mackay LEVEL 1 calculation, over time the substance will preferentially distribute into the water (99.9%) with only traces in the compartments air, soil and sediment.
