Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

A low potential for secondary poisoning is expected.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

As 2,2-bis[[(1-oxopentyl) oxy]methyl]propane-1,3-diyl divalerate (CAS-No.15834-04-5) is readily biodegradable, ready degradation into metabolites is postulated.

Fatty acids have been shown to have a low potential for bioaccumulation when considering the rapid metabolisation in Fatty acids and alcohols. Furthermore, a calculated BCF resulted in 550 L/kg. Therefore, in accordance with Annex VIII the substance is not bioaccumulative.

Fatty acids and alcohols are the main metabolites of fatty acid esters. These components occur in soils naturally and are part of physiological pathways and can be used as energy source. Bioaccumulation in predators is not expected.

Furthermore, low toxicity to rats (repeated dose oral, NOAEL (28d) = 1450 mg/kg bw/d) was found.

As a result, a low potential for secondary poisoning of birds is expected. Further testing should not be conducted due to animal welfare.
