Description of key information

Significant accumulation in organisms is not to be expected.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

BCF (aquatic species):
6.3 dimensionless

Additional information

In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex IX, a study need not be conducted since the substance has a log Kow less or equal than 3. 1-Ethylpiperidine (CAS 766-09-6) has a log Kow of 1.89 (calculated; WoE, see ch. 4.7). The BCF value was calculated using EPISuite v4.11 SRC BCFBAF v3.01. The obtained BCF value was 8.2 L/kg ww (log BCF = 0.91). The key study is a read-across to the structurally similar substance 1 -methylpiperidine (CAS 626 -67 -5) according to OECD 305C determining a BCF of <6.3 at 1.0 mg/L in Cyprinus carpio (NITE, 2011). Therefore, significant accumulation in organisms is not to be expected.
