Additional information

Schaefer (1998) observed no neurotoxic effect on rat during a subchronic study and a phosphine-related decrease in horizontal activity, vertical activity, total distance and stereotype in a acute study with 21 ; 28 and 40 ppm. These effects was observed on day 1 but not 7 and 14 days later. In conclusion, no phosphine-related clinical and neuropathologic changes were found in subchronic and acute studies.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Phosphine is listed on Annex VI to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 includes lists of harmonised classification and labelling. No change is proposed for these effects.
