Fire-fighting measures

- Suitable extinguishing media:

Use powder, foam, carbon dioxide or sand.

- Unsuitable extinguishing media:

Applying direct water may be dangerous because fire may expand to surroundings.

- Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:

Fire may produce irritating, corrosive and/or toxic gases. Runoff from fire control or dilution water may cause pollution.

- Advice for fire fighter:

Fight fire with normal precautions from a reasonable distance.

Evacuate area.

Eliminate all ignition sources if safe to do so.

Firefighters should wear proper protective equipment.

Accidental release measures

- Personal precautions:

For non-emergency personnel:

Keep out except responsible personnel.

Wear suitable protective equipment

For emergency responders:

Evacuate area. Do not touch or walk through spilled material.

Ventilate area after material pick up is complete.

Personal protective equipment:

Respiratory protection       Wear respiratory protection.

Hand protection       Wear protective gloves.

Eye protection       Wear eye/face protection.

Skin and body protection       Wear protective clothing.

- Environmental precautions:

Spilled chemicals and flammable liquids should not be flushed down the drain or gutter or ditch without considering consequences.

- Methods and material for containment and cleaning up:

For large spill, dike for later disposal.

Absorb or cover with dry earth, sand or other non-combustible material and transfer to containers.

Use clean non-sparking tools to collect absorbed material.

Stop leak if you can do it without risk.

ELIMINATE all ignition sources (no smoking, flares, sparks or flames in immediate area).

Prevent entry into waterways, sewers, basements or confined areas.

Eliminate all sources of ignition and ventilate the area.

Do not handle until all safety precautions have been read and understood.

Handling and storage

- Precautions for safe handling:

Protective measures:

Do not breathe dust/fume/gas/mist/vapours/spray.

Use only non-sparking tools.

Take precautionary measures against static discharge.

Keep away from heat/sparks/open flames/hot surfaces. - No smoking.

Ground/bond container and receiving equipment.

Avoid contact with skin. Avoid contact with eyes.

Prevent vapor buildup by providing adequate ventilation during and after use.
