First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Eyes: Immediately flood the eye with plenty of water for at least
15 minutes, holding the eye open. Obtain medical attention
urgently.
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash affected area with soap and water. Remove contaminated
clothing as washing proceeds. Obtain medical attention
urgently.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Obtain medical attention urgently.
Fire-fighting measures

Product arising from burning: The substance is combustible and will burn if involved in a
fire, evolving noxious fumes (eg carbon oxides). However,
there is no experimental evidence to support the anticipated
combustion products.

Protective equipment: Full protective clothing and self-contained breathing
apparatus must be worn.
Accidental release measures
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment conforming to
the relevant national or international standards as
mentioned in section 2.3.10.
Try to prevent the material from entering drains or water
courses. Contain spillages and absorb using earth, sand or
other inert material. Transfer into suitable containers for
recovery or disposal. Small spillages may be flushed with
large quantities of water.
Dispose of waste material by incineration in accordance with
local regulations.
Handling and storage
conditions of good industrial hygiene and in conformity with
any local regulations in order to avoid exposure.
Engineering controls are necessary to reduce exposure to the
substance.
When exposure cannot be prevented or adequately controlled
appropriate personal protective equipment should be worn.
Such protective equipment should conform to the appropriate
international or national standards as follows;
Chemical protective gloves to Standard EN374
Chemical resistant clothing to Standard EN368
Eye protection to Standard EN166
When necessary appropriate respiratory protection should be
used. e.g. a vapour mask conforming to EN405 FFA1.
The standards mentioned above should be regarded as a
minimum.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry area, under cover and away from direct
sunlight. Store in original containers.

Disposal considerations
minor spillages or accidental discharge is not economically
or technically feasible, and such waste material will be
disposed of by incineration. In principle, it may be
possible to recover larger spillages of uncontaminated
material for subsequent use.
Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: The notification tests have shown that the substance is
considered hazardous to health as it is a skin irritant and
a severe eye irritant. The substance is also classified as
"dangerous for the environment" as it is harmful to aquatic
organisms and is not readily biodegradable.
There is also a structural alert for glycol ethers. In
addition to the effects seen in the notification tests,
there is a concern regarding potential haemolytic effecs,
kidney and liver damage, immunotoxicty and CNS depression.
However, the absence of any evidence of these effects in the
28-day repeat dose toxicity study indicate that there is no
immediate concern regarding these endpoints. There is also
a concern regarding potential developmental and reproductive
toxicity, although no evidence of effects upon reproductive
organs was seen in the 28-day repeat dose toxicity study.
No chemical treatment is practicable to neutralise the
hazardous properties.
Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: The substance can be disposed of by incineration by burning
under controlled conditions at a licensed waste treatment
processor in accordance with local regulations. Stack gases
should be scrubbed, because noxious fumes (eg carbon oxides)
could be formed.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The substance should not normally be discharged directly to
the sewage system or the aqueous environment.
Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not applicable as the substance will not be made available
to the general public.
Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable as the substance will not be made available
