Stability and reactivity
Danger other than fire: The substance slowly hydrolyses in water to release acetic
acid.
Disposal considerations
Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery for reuse is not possible.
Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Acetic acid released during prolonged hydrolysis can be
neutralised using dilute alkali.
Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Disposal at a licensed site is possible.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: [UK c.a.: The substance may be destroyed by incineration at
an approved facility with waste gas treatment to remove
nitrogen oxides.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The substance hydrolyses rapidly in alkaline solutions. The
resulting solution can be discharged to sewage treatment
plants.
