Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

(2-hydroxyethyl)ammonium nitrate is soluble in water and dissociates to (2 -hydroxyethyl)ammonium and nitrate.

Since no studies on the aquatic toxicity of the substance (2 -hydroxyethyl)ammonium nitrate are available, study reports and published literature about the toxic effects of its dissociation products have been consulted alternatively.

There are two studies available on the toxicity of 2 -aminoethanol (CAS 141-43-5) to aquatic algae (Scenedesmus subspicatus and Selenastrum capricornutum) with EC50 values from 2.8 - 22 mg/L (growth rate). Corresponding NOECs were determined to be in the range of 1 to 4 mg/L.

Based on a reliable guideline study with potassium nitrate (CAS 7757-79-1), it was shown that the substance was not at all or only slightly inhibitory at the highest concentration tested. After an exposure period of 10 days, an EC50 of 1043 mg/L nitrate was derived from testing with 10 different cultures of benthic diatoms.
