Endpoint:
partition coefficient
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
August 12th 2009 - November 18th 2009
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 117 (Partition Coefficient (n-octanol / water), HPLC Method)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
HPLC method
Partition coefficient type:
octanol-water
Analytical method:
high-performance liquid chromatography
Key result
Type:
log Pow
Partition coefficient:
5.6
Temp.:
20 °C
pH:
7
Remarks on result:
other: The three measurements yielded the same value: log Kow = 5.6
Details on results:
Based on the chromatographic data, the test item was considered stable during the test procedure. The partition coefficient was determined based on a calibration curve using 7 reference items. The difference between the three measurements of the reference mixture is less than 0.1 log unit. Therefore, the study is considered valid. The correlation coefficient for the relationship between log k and log Pow for the set of reference items was around 0.9.
Conclusions:
The log Pow for Polysulfides, di-tert-butyl is 5.6.
Executive summary:

The octanol-water partition coefficient of polysulfide di-tert-butyl was determined according to OECD TG 117 method (HPLC) under GLP. The log Pow was 5.6.

Description of key information

The log Pow for Polysulfides, di-tert-butyl is 5.6.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Log Kow (Log Pow):
5.6
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

Mollandin (2009) is a GLP compliant, high performance liquid chromatography study following OECD guideline 117. The study is considered reliable and suitable for use for this endpoint. The log Pow for Polysulfides, di-tert-butyl is 5.6.
