In accordance with REACH Regulation 1907/2006 (Annex VIII Column 2), an Adsoprtions-/Desporptions-Screening test (required in section 9.3.1) does not need to be conducted because, based on the physicochemical properties, tetrahydromethylphthalic anhydride (MTHPA), as its 3-MTHPA D4 isomer, can be expected to have a low potential for adsorption (the substance has a low octanol water partition coefficient of 1.75 and is hydrolytically unstable).

Koc was calculated using the computer program KOCWIN (v2.00). It is predicted that the substance has a Koc of 10 L/Kg.

According to the McCall classification scheme, this means that 3 -MTHPA D4 is expected to be very highly mobile (0 < Koc < 50) on soil.
