Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

A study with P. subcapitata is available (reliability 1) performed according to OECD and GLP guidelines.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
0.33 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
0.09 mg/L

Additional information

In a 72-hour algal growth inhibition test, exponentially growing algae were exposed to dilutions of a paper filtrate of a stock solution prepared at 100 mg/L. As measured concentrations in these solutions all exceeded the solubility level of the test substance, an additional solution was prepared as a 0.22 µm filtrate of a stock solution prepared at 100 mg/L.

Algal growth was inhibited in a dose-responsive relation in the solutions prepared as dilutions of the paper filtrate, but was not affected in the fine filtrate. The 72-hour EC50 values of the test substance are 0.33 mg/L (growth rate), 0.26 mg/L (biomass) and 0.24 mg/L (yield). The 72-hour NOEC for growth rate, biomass and yield is 0.09 mg/L. These values exceed the solubility limit of the test substance in test medium.
