Additional information

No hazard to the environment is anticipated on the basis that in an acute toxicity study to aquatic invertebrates, no immobilisation of the test animals was seen; further testing of aquatic species was not pursued on the basis that the water solubility of Fe3P is too low to justify further testing. A long-term solubility test (Transformation-Dissolution protocol, according to OECD test guideline 29) confirmed that over a prolonged period (28 days) in aqueous media, Fe3P did not dissolve and released only a small concentration of iron, phosphorous, and orthophosphate; on this basis Fe3P is considered to present no hazard to the environment.

Conclusion on classification

As noted above, Fe3P is considered not to present any hazard for the environment. No deaths (assessed in terms of immobilisation) were seen in the available study (acute toxicity to aquatic invertebrates) and there is no other data which might imply a hazard to the environment. Fe3P is therefore not classified for any environmental hazard.
