Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the experience in production or handling shows that the substance does not react with water, e.g. the substance is manufactured with water or washed with water
Endpoint:
flammable liquids: obsolete as covered by section 'Flash point'
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a liquid

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

In accordance with the CLP Regulation Annex I, flammable liquid means a liquid having a flash point of not more than 60 °C. The flashpoint of the submission substance is 96°C and therefore classification criteria are not met.

Moreover, flammability of liquids is determined on basis of their flashpoint (in combination with their boiling point), their ability to emit flammable gases upon contact with water and their pyrophoricity. The molecular structure of the submission substance does not contain groups that indicate potential reactivity with water or pyrophoric properties. Existing experience from handling corroborate that the submission substance does not have pyrophoric properties nor exposes flammability in contact with water.
