Executive summary:

In a skin penetration toxicology study 0.01 ml of crotonaldehdyed was applied to the clipped belly skin area of albino rabbits. Animals were observed for 24 hours and signs such as necrosis, edema, erythema or congestion of capillaries were recorded. In a skin penetration toxicology study in guinea pigs in which key basic details were reports, an application of the substance over the clipped abdomen for four days and observed for 10 additional days or until death resulted in an LD50 of c.a. 26 mg/kg body weight.
