Description of key information
The surface tension of an aqueous solution of ISOPENTYRATE (90% of the saturation solubility) was determined to be 65.7 mN/m at 20 °C.

One GLP study was performed in order to determine the surface tension of an aqueous solution of ISOPENTYRATE according to OECD 115 and EU method A.5, using the ring method. Seven readings were recorded, and the mean value was retained, corrected with calibration factor from water.
The surface tension of an aqueous solution of ISOPENTYRATE (90% of the saturation solubility) was determined to be 65.7 mN/m at 20 °C.
Based on the criteria as outlined in the EC Guideline (a substance is considered as surface active if surface tension < 60mN/m in the conditions of the method) and the results of this study, ISOPENTYRATE has to be considered as a non-surface active substance
