Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Biodegradation in soil/Bioaccumulation in aquatic sediment

1,2,4,5,7,8-Hexoxonane, 3,6,9-trimethyl-, 3,6,9-tris(Ethyl and Propyl) derivatives is only used in industrial settings (manufacture, and downstream use) with no wide dispersive uses. This test is waived as releases to the aquatic compartment are very unlikely due to the highly contained processes during manufacture and downstream (industrial) use.

BCF for CAS 24748 -23 -0 derived with measured water solubility limit (13.1 mg/L) and measured log Kow value (4.84) is 725 L/kg (Log BCF = 2.86).

With an estimated log Kow value (by EPISuite) of 6.1 the BCF estimate is 4940 L/kg (Log BCF = 3.69).

Adsorption /desorption

1,2,4,5,7,8-Hexoxonane, 3,6,9-trimethyl-, 3,6,9-tris(Ethyl and Propyl) derivatives has a measured log Koc of 1.9 at 20oC.

Biodegradation in water: screening tests

1,2,4,5,7,8-Hexoxonane, 3,6,9-trimethyl-, 3,6,9-tris(Ethyl and Propyl) derivatives is not readily nor inherently biodegradable, from the results of the extended biodegradation test and the Zahn-Wellens test.

These results are confirmed by studies with CAS 24748 -23 -0.

Hydrolysis

The registered substance is rather stable at environmental relevant temperatures. This result is confirmed by an OECD 111 Tier 3 test with CAS 24748 -23 -0 that indicate that at a pH value of 7, the half-life (t½) for 3,6,9-Triethyl-3,6,9-trimethyl-1,4,7-triperoxonane at a temperature of 12°C was > 90 days.
