Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Acute toxicity studies on the test substance are available for the three relevant trophic levels (fish, aquatic invertebrates, algae). The acute toxicity to fish is low as demonstrated by guideline study conducted according to EU Method C.1 (Acute Toxicity for Fish) and GLP (Balk and Meuwsen, 1989). A LC50 (96h) of 420 mg/L was determined for Poecilia reticulata. In a guideline study following EU Method C.2 an EC50 (48 h) of 24.1 mg/L was determined for Daphnia magna (Balk and Meuwsen, 1989).

Algae were determined to be the most sensitive species with a NOEC (27 h) value of 0.5 mg/L determined in a GLP guideline study according to OECD 201 (van Ginkel et al., 1990).

Experimental data on the chronic toxicity of the substance are not available. The assessment is therefore based on read across data available for the structural analogue Amines, polyethylenepoly-, triethylenetetramine fraction (CAS 90640-67-8). Based on the reproduction of Daphnia magna an EC10 (21 d) of 1.9 mg/L was determined.

An EC50 (2 h) of 97.3 mg/L was determined in a study testing the respiration inhibition in nitrifying bacteria. The determined EC10 (2 h) was 46 mg/L.
