Epichlorohydrin is susceptible to hydrolysis with a half-live of (2.5–3.3 days) at pH 7 and 25°C. In natural waters, Epichlorohydrin will also react nucleophiles commonly present (Thiols, Phenols, Alcohols). Hydrolysis is competing with volatilisation. In the atmosphere Epichlorohydrin will react with hydroxyl radicals with a rate of

0.44 * 10^-12 cm3/(molecule*sec).
