Based on the available measured data, n-pentane is biodegradable. Therefore, based on initial persistence screening the substance is not expected to meet the Persistent (P) or very Persistent (vP) criteria. The substance, n-pentane, has a log Kow of 3.45 (Lide 2008) and therefore is not expected to fulfill the bioaccumulative (B) or very bioaccumulative (vB) criteria. The substance n-pentane is not identified as PB or vPvB, therefore a toxicity assessment is not needed.
