Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The log Koc of 2-phenoxyethanol was determined as 1.61 at 20°C, the Koc was determined as 40.74 L/kg.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Koc at 20 °C:
40.74

Additional information

The adsorption coefficient (Koc) onto soil and sewage sludge of 2-phenoxyethanol (purity 99.9%) was determined using HPLC method, according to OECD Guideline 121 and EC Guideline part C.19 (BASF AG, 2001). The test was performed at pH 6, as 2-phenoxyethanol is a weak acid and is un-dissociated at this pH. The adsorption coefficient for 2-phenoxyethanol is 40.74 L/kg (equals log Koc of 1.61). This value is supported by a QSAR calculation yielding a log Koc value of 1.083 (BASF AG, 2007). From the log Koc value, a low adsorption potential of 2-phenoxyethanol on solid materials can be expected.
