Description of key information

Tartaric acid showed a very rapid degradation, reaching a plateau after 4h. Calculations revealed a first order reaction for the degradation of the tartaric acid, with half lives of 9.6h.

According to column 2 of REACH Annex IX, futhter studies do not need to be conducted since tartaric acid and its salts are readily biodegradable and have a low log Kow.
