Description of key information

Available data used in a weight-of-evidence approach gives a density of 1.49 g/cm3 at 20°C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Relative density at 20C:
1.48

Additional information

The experimentally determined density of chloroform is 1.48 g/cm3 at 25°C as determined in a pycnometer test (Moelwyn-Hughes and Missen 1957). This value corresponds with a handbook data (Verschueren 2009) giving a density of chloroform at 20 °C of 1.49 g/cm3.
