Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Under the conditions of this study a viscosity of 0.641 mm2/s at 20°C was determined for the test substance, Normal-Heptane.

Description of key information

The viscosity of Normal-Heptane is 0.641 mm2/s at 20°C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The measurement of viscosity of petroleum distillates is covered by method ISO 3104. The viscosity is at minimum 0.61 mm2/s at 20°C for this substance if measured with the agreed method. A test conducted by Halterman Products (2010) demonstrates that measured values fall above this borderline value with 0.641 mm2/s at 20°C. Literature data suggest a dynamic viscosity of 0.387 mPa s (Lide 2005).
