Formula:  m (T) = m (P+T) – m (P)

m (L) = m (P+T+L) – m (P+T)

V (L) = m (L) / Density (L)

V (T) = V (P) – V (L)

The measured values of density of Liquid are listed in the following Table 2.

The average density at 20°C (named Density (L)) of water saturated in 4-TBC is 997.7 kg.m-3 ± 1.2 kg.m-3.

The results are presented in the following Table 3.

Formula:    Density (T) [kg/m3] = (m (T) [g] / V (T) [cm3] x 1000 [kg.cm3.g-1.m-3]

  Relative density = density [kg/m3] / 999.975 [kg/m3] (density of water at 4°C)

Conclusions:
The relative density of 4-TBC is 1.085 +/- 0.012.
Executive summary:

In a study (Processium, 2010), the relative density of 4 -tert-butylpyrocatechol was determined using a pycnometer method, according to the regulation (EC) n°440/2008, A.3, and to OECD Guideline N° 109.

The relative density of 4 -tert-butylpyrocatechol is 1.085 +/- 0.012 at 20°C+/- 0.5°C.

The study is classified as acceptable and satisfies the guideline requirements for a relative density study.

Description of key information

Relative density: 1.085 +/- 0.012 at 20°C
