Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

LC50_96h of 1,2,4-triazole was estimated to be higher than 97 mg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

A test with the sodium salt (sodium 1,2,4 -triazol-1-ide) has been performed according to OECD 203 guideline and GLP requirements (Thiebaud, 2001). Under environmental conditions, the sodium salt is reactive with water, and the 1,2,4-

triazole can therefore be considered as its degradation product. On this basis it seems reasonable to use the available data to assess the toxicity of the 1,2,4 -triazole. The substance was not lethal to Danio Rerio exposed for 96h to the measured concentration of 97mg/L. Another study has been performed according to OECD 203 guideline on Oncorhynchus mykiss with 1,2,4-triazole (Rufi, 1983). LC50_96h has been determined to be 760 mg/L expressed in terms of nominal concentrations. But the concentration was not maintained during the test.
