Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
oxidising liquids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with oxidising properties and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied

Description of key information

This study was waived (see section "Discussion" below).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Oxidising properties:
no

Additional information

Isopentyl p-methoxycinnamate does not contain fluorine or chlorine, and only contains oxygen atoms that are bound to carbon. It is therefore concluded that the substance will not exhibit oxidising properties. As a result, and according to Regulation EC No. 1907/2006, Annex Vll, 7.13, column 2, testing for this endpoint is considered to be unnecessary based on the chemical structure. Therefore, no test on oxidising properties was conducted.

Justification for classification or non-classification

As Isopentyl p-methoxycinnamate does not contain fluorine or chlorine, and only contains oxygen atoms that are bound to carbon, this compound is supposed to be devoid of oxidising properties. Accordingly, Isopentyl p-methoxycinnamate is not classified as an oxidising substance as described in the current EU-CLP regulation.
