Not relevant due to enhanced ultimate biodegradation.
In ready biodegradation tests conducted according to EU method C.4-C and
GLP (1,2,4-Benzenetricarboxylic acid, mixed decyl and octyl triesters;
CAS No. 90218-76-1), it is demonstrated that biodegradation of the PFAE
aromatics category members continue beyond the 28 day test period, which
results in a biodegradation above 70% after a test period of 43 days and
48 days, respectively.
As the screening criteria for persistency listed in table R.11-2 of the
“Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment:
chapter 11: PBT assessment (ECHA, 2012d) is passed under the strict
conditions of enhanced ready biodegradation tests, it can be concluded
that the test substances are not persistent in the environment and soil
simulation testing is not required. As stated in ECHA Guidance on
information requirements and chemical safety assessment, Chapter 7b, a
simulation test would provide little additional data as rapid
mineralisation in the environment is already assumed (ECHA, 2012b).
