Fire-fighting measures

- Suitable extinguishing media:

Water spray, Foam, Dry powder, Carbon dioxide (CO2).

- Unsuitable extinguishing media:

Do not use a solid water stream as it may scatter and spread fire.

- Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:

Dust can form an explosive mixture in air.

- Advice for fire fighter:

Fire fighting measures: Evacuate non-essential personnel. Move containers from fire area if you can do it without risk. Keep containers and surroundings cool with water spray. Prevent fire extinguishing water from contaminating surface water or the ground water system.

Special protective equipment for fire-fighters: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective suit.

Accidental release measures

- Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures: Evacuate personnel to safe areas. Do not touch or walk through spilled material. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Do not breathe dust. Use personal protective equipment. Ensure adequate ventilation.

- Environmental precautions: Should not be released into the environment. Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so.

- Methods and material for containment and cleaning up: Large amounts: Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. Dike to collect large spills. Cover with plastic sheet to prevent spreading. Sweep up and shovel into suitable containers for disposal. Following product recovery, flush area with water. Small amounts: Shovel or sweep up. After cleaning, flush away traces with water. Never return spills in original containers for re-use.

Handling and storage

- Precautions for safe handling:
