Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the experience in production or handling shows that the substance does not react with water, e.g. the substance is manufactured with water or washed with water
Justification for type of information:
JUSTIFICATION FOR DATA WAIVING
In accordance with REACH Annex XI this study is scientifically unjustified. The flammability of liquids is determined on basis of their flashpoint (in combination with their boiling point), their ability to emit flammable gases upon contact with water and their pyrophoricity. The molecular structure of the substance does not contain groups that indicate potential reactivity with water or pyrophoric properties and the experience in handling and use of this substance indicates that this is the case. The already reported flashpoint being higher than 23 °C but lower than 60 °C (cf section 4.11), the substance is considered as a flammable liquid (category 3) according to regulation (EC) 1272/2008 (CLP regulation).
Endpoint:
pyrophoric liquids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
Justification for type of information:

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
flammable

Additional information

The flash point based on the read-across from an analogue substance is 51 ºC.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the flash point, the substance is classified as Flammable liquid Category 3 according to CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008.
