Conclusion on classification

(Chloromethyl)triethoxysilane (CAS No. 15267-95-5) is expected to hydrolyse rapidly in contact with water to (chloromethyl)silanetriol and ethanol. The silanol hydrolysis product is not readily biodegradable.

(Chloromethyl)triethoxysilane (CAS No. 15267-95-5) is not classified for the environment in the EU according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 because measured data for the registered substance and structurally analogous substances triethoxy(methyl)silane (CAS No. 2031-67-6) indicate that both the parent substance and the silanol hydrolysis product are not harmful to the environment. Short term data are available and the lowest EC/LC50 is > 100 mg/l.
