Description of key information

Adsorption to solid soil phase is not expected.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

As calculated by PCKOCWIN v1.66, the Koc of caffeine is 10 (corrected log Koc = 1.0). The potential for adsorption to soil, sediment, and suspended solids is low. Two further studies assume that caffeine will not adsorb to sediment and suspended matter and thus will have a very high mobility if released to soil. These assumptions are based upon an estimated Koc of 18 - 22.
