PACT - Public Activities Coordination Tool

The public activities coordination tool (PACT) provides an overview of the substance-specific activities that authorities are working on under REACH and the CLP Regulation. These activities are being carried out in line with ECHA’s Integrated Regulatory Strategy.

PACT provides up-to-date information on the activities planned, ongoing or completed by ECHA and/or MSCAs for a given substance in the following areas:

  • Data generation and assessment – dossier evaluation, substance evaluation, informal hazard assessment (PBT/vPvB/ED).
  • Assessment of regulatory needs (ARN).
  • Regulatory risk management – harmonised classification and labelling (CLH) , SVHC identification, recommendations for inclusion in the Authorisation List, restriction.

A summary of all the substance-specific activities can be found under ‘Details’ for each entry.

Tar Oils derived from coal and/or wood by distillation or by other processes
show/hide
Creosote oil, high-boiling distillate
The high-boiling distillation fraction obtained from the high temperature carbonization of bituminous coal which is further refined to remove excess crystalline salts. It consists primarily of creosote oil with some of the normal polynuclear aromatic salts, which are components of coal tar distillates, removed. It is crystal free at approximately 5°C (41°F).
EC / List no: 274-565-9 | CAS no: 70321-79-8
Distillates (coal tar), upper
The distillate from coal tar having an approximate distillation range of 220°C to 450°C (428°F to 842°F). Composed primarily of three to four membered condensed ring aromatic hydrocarbons and other hydrocarbons.
EC / List no: 266-026-1 | CAS no: 65996-91-0
Distillates (coal tar), naphthalene oils
A complex combination of hydrocarbons obtained by the distillation of coal tar. It consists primarily of aromatic and other hydrocarbons, phenolic compounds and aromatic nitrogen compounds and distills in the approximate range of 200°C to 250°C (392°F to 482°F).
EC / List no: 283-484-8 | CAS no: 84650-04-4
Creosote oil
A complex combination of hydrocarbons obtained by the distillation of coal tar. It consists primarily of aromatic hydrocarbons and may contain appreciable quantities of tar acids and tar bases. It distills at the approximate range of 200°C to 325°C (392°F to 617°F).
EC / List no: 263-047-8 | CAS no: 61789-28-4
