First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove patient to fresh air. Symptomatic treatment. Seek
medical attention.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse thoroughly with water for at least 15 minutes. Seek
medical attention.
Emergency measure - Skin: Wipe off excess material with disposable towels and then
wash affected area with soap and plenty of water. If
irritation develops seek medical attention.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Carbon dioxide (or nitrogen), polymer foam or "alcohol"
foam. Water spray or fog may be effective if used
cautiously; the density of the substance is nearly the same
as that of water, so "floating fire" is unlikely. However,
care should be taken to avoid spattering.

Product arising from burning: Products of combustion may contain oxides of carbon,
nitrogen and sulfur.

Protective equipment: Full personal protective equipment and a self-contained
breathing apparatus should be worn.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Contain spill with a dike or trench and pump into drums or
absorb with inert material (e.g. sand) and shovel into
clean-up drums. Gloves, eye protection and protective
clothing should be worn. New drums should be clearly
labelled and the contents disposed of in accordance with
local regulations.

Handling and storage

Handling: The neat substance will be used in closed systems; the only
possibility for exposure will be when the drum is connected
to a metering pump. Given the substance's physical
properties, engineering controls (particularly to control
inhalation) are most likely unnecessary. Typical personal
protective equipment for handling chemicals (lab coat,
safety glasses and gloves) should be sufficient protection
against exposure.

Storage: The substance can be stored in the container in which it is
packaged at ambient temperatures. Special ventilation
requirements are not anticipated. The neat substance should
not be stored in close proximity to strong oxidisers, strong
acids and/or strong bases. Contamination with water should
be avoided but only because the product is rendered useless
by contamination with water, not because the product is
water-reactive.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Neat substance will be delivered in 55 US gallon drums. If
any formulated product is sold, we anticipate it would be in
bottles ranging in size from 1 to 5 litres or in 20 litre
pails.

Danger other than fire: None known.

Chemical reaction with water: The substance may decompose slowly in water(particularly in
base) but is not water-reactive. The decomposition does not
generate hazardous by-products and proceeds sufficiently
slowly that these by-products are not released at a rate
which would make the substance more hazardous in a fire.

Dust explosion: There is no potential dust explosion hazard from this
viscous liquid.

substance.
