Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: At 600-800 deg C the substance decomposes to give hydrogen

chloride gas, carbon oxides and phosphorus compounds

(Phosphine and phosgene cannot be detected). Water can be

used to extinguish fires involving the substance by itself.

In the case of mixed fires choice of extinguishing agent

will depend on what other substances are present.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Dam the spill, pump into a spillage reservoir and absorb

using sand or earth then incinerate under controlled

conditions.

Handling and storage

Handling: Wear gloves and safety glasses. Avoid contact with skin and

eyes.

Storage: Store in plastic drums or metal containers that have been

coated on the inside.
