Advice for firefighters

Protective actions during firefighting

Keep up-wind to avoid fumes. Thermal decomposition or combustion products may include the following substances: Toxic and corrosive gases or vapours. Avoid breathing fire gases or vapours.

Special protective equipment for firefighters

Wear positive-pressure self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and appropriate protective clothing.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

Personal precautions

Wear protective clothing, gloves, eye and face protection. No smoking, sparks, flames or other sources of ignition near spillage.

For non-emergency personnel

Evacuate area.

Environmental precautions

Avoid or minimise the creation of any environmental contamination.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up

Methods for cleaning up

No smoking, sparks, flames or other sources of ignition near spillage. Keep combustible materials away from spillage. Wear protective clothing, gloves, eye and face protection. Collect and place in suitable waste disposal containers and seal securely. If involved in a fire, shut off flow if it can be done without risk. Avoid generation and spreading of dust.

Small Spillages: <10 kgs Flush away spillage with plenty of water.

Large Spillages: >10 kgs Collect and place in suitable waste disposal containers and seal securely.
