Description of key information
Appearance
The test item was observed to be a brown gel during performance of GLP guideline studies.
Melting/freezing point
The melting temperature of the test item has been determined to be over the range 26 to 42 °C (299 to 316 K) (OECD 102 and EU Method A.1).
Boiling point
The test item has been determined to boil from approximately 155 °C (428 K) at 102 to 103 kPa (OECD 103 and EU Method A.2).
Relative density
The density of the test item was determined to be 974 kg/m3at 20.0 ± 0.5°Cand a relative density of 0.974 (OECD 109 and EU method A.3).
Granulometry
In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VII, Section 7.14, granulometry does not need to be conducted if the substance is marketed or used in a non-solid or granular form. The substance is a gel hence testing is not required.
Vapour pressure
The vapour pressure of the test item was determined to be 1.69 x 10E-02 Pa at 25°C (298 K), 2.96 x 10E-02 Pa at 40°C (313 K) and 0.756 Pa at 90°C (363 K) (OECD 104 and EU Method A.4).
Partition coefficient
The partition coefficient of the test item has been determined to be in the range of 1.04 x 10E06 to > 1.0 x 10E10 with a log10 Pow of 6.02 to > 10.0 (OECD 117 and EU Method A.8).
Water solubility
The water solubility of the test item has been determined to be 5.20 x 10E-05 g/L of solution at 20.0 ± 0.5 °C (OECD 105 and EU Method A.6).
Surface tension
Since the water solubility of the test item was determined to be less than 1 mg/L at 20 °C, and in line with REACH Annex VII, Section 7.6, column 2, the surface tension was not determined according to a procedure designed to be compatible with Method 115 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 27 July 1995, and EU Method A.5 Surface Tension of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008.
Flash point
The flash point of the test item has been determined to be 226 ± 2 °C (EU Method A.9).
Autoflammability / self-ignition temperature
The test item has been determined to have an auto-ignition temperature of 356 ± 5 °C at atmospheric pressure between 101.7 to 103.2 kPa (EU Method A.15).
Flammability
No experimental data from a flammability study are available. The flash point is the primary indicator for ease of ignition of liquids. Testing for flammability has been waived in accordance with Annex XI, 1.1.1 as an experiment is considered scientifically unjustified. No study is required and the submission item is considered non-flammable on the basis of its flash-point of 226 ± 2 °C at 101.325 kPa.
Explosive properties
Based on the chemical structure of the test item the result for explosive properties has been predicted negative (EU Method A.14).
Oxidising properties
Based on the chemical structure of the test item the result for oxidising properties has been predicted negative (EU Method A.21).
Viscosity
The viscosity of the substance was determined to be 18.16 cSt at 100 °C and 248.3 cSt at 40 °C (ASTM D445).
