Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Stability

Assessment of hydrolysis is not required if the substance is readily biodegradable or highly insoluble in water. As the substance is inorganic, containing no carbon, an assessment of ready biodegradability is not feasible. Due to the inorganic nature of BTN/A, and its known chemical stability, abiotic degradation is not considered to play a significant role in its environmental transformation.

Biodegradation

An assessment of ready biodegradability is not feasible as the substance is inorganic, containing no carbon. Simulation testing on degradation in water, sediment or soil has not been conducted as direct or indirect exposure of the aquatic, sediment or soil compartments for this substance are unlikely based on the intended uses.

Bioaccumulation

An assessment of bioaccumulation has not been undertaken as the substance has a low potential for bioaccumulation based on a Log Kow of -1.33. Literature data on vanadium compounds indicate that, in general, organisms do not concentrate or accumulate vanadium from environmental media to a high degree, and that there is no indication of biomagnification in food chains.

Transport and distribution

Adsorption/desorption has not been determined as the substance has a low potential for adsorption based on a log Kow of -1.33.
