Static algal freshwater growth inhibition test has been conducted with FR-513 according to OECD 201 guidelines.
The project started with a range finding test which resulted that the expected EC50 for cell growth inhibition was between 10 and 100 mg/l. The expected EC50 for growth rate reduction approximated the highest test concentration of 100 mg/l. The project was continued with a final test exposing exponentially growing algal cultures to a blank control and a series of nominal concentrations of FR-513.
FR-513 reduced growth rate of this freshwater algae species significantly at 4.6 mg/l and higher.
The EC50 for cell growth inhibition was 28 mg/l with a 95% confidence interval ranging from 19-42 mg/l
The EC50 for growth rate reduction was beyond the tested range (above 100 mg/l)
The NOEC for cell growth inhibition and growth rate reduction was 2.2 mg/l.
