Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Study by Scott and Bright, Klimisch value = 1, gives a melting value of 235.1 to 235.8 °C, with decomposition.
Study by Eaton, Klimisch value = 2, gives a melting value of 238 °C

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
235.45 °C

Additional information

The more reliable value for this endpoint is the one determined by Scott and Bright (1988), as the study completed to the EU method A1 guideline and OECD 102 and in accordance with GLP standards. The study by Eaton (1988) is an auto-ignition study from which a more approximate melting temperature was obtained. The difference between the two values obtained (2-3 °C) is not significant. Therefore the value used for this endpoint is taken from Scott and Bright; the Eaton study supports the value obtained by Scott and Bright.
