Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Skin contact: Remove all contaminated clothes and footwear immediately unless stuck to skin. Wash

immediately with plenty of soap and water. Contaminated clothes should be washed

before re-use or disposed of. Consult a doctor.

Eye contact: Bathe the eye with running water for 15 minutes. Transfer to hospital for specialist

examination.

Ingestion: If conscious, give half a litre of water to drink immediately. Never give anything by mouth

to an unconscious person. If unconscious, check for breathing and apply artificial

respiration if necessary. If unconscious and breathing is OK, place in the recovery

position. Transfer to hospital as soon as possible.

Inhalation: Remove casualty from exposure ensuring one's own safety whilst doing so. If

unconscious and breathing is OK, place in the recovery position. If unconscious, check

for breathing and apply artificial respiration if necessary. Transfer to hospital as soon as

possible

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media: Water spray. Water fog. Alcohol resistant foam. Dry chemical powder. Do not use full

water jet.

Exposure hazards: Toxic. In combustion emits toxic fumes of carbon dioxide / carbon monoxide. In

combustion emits toxic fumes of nitrogen oxides. In combustion emits toxic fumes of

hydrogen chloride.

Advice for fire-fighters: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus. Wear protective clothing to prevent contact

with skin and eyes.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions:  Mark out the contaminated area

with signs and prevent access to unauthorised personnel. Eliminate all sources of

ignition. Do not create dust.

Environmental precautions: Do not discharge into drains or rivers.

Clean-up procedures: Transfer to a suitable container. Avoid creating dust. Use a dust suppressing sweeping

aid if necessary. Wash the spillage site with large amounts of water. Retain washings

as contaminated waste.

Handling and storage

Handling requirements: Ensure there is sufficient ventilation of the area. Avoid direct contact with the substance.

Earth any equipment used in handling. Avoid the formation or spread of dust in the air.

Smoking is forbidden. Use non-sparking tools.

Storage conditions: Store in cool, well ventilated area. Keep away from direct sunlight. Keep away from

sources of ignition. Keep container tightly closed.

Suitable packaging: Must only be kept in original packaging.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Engineering measures: Ensure there is sufficient ventilation of the area. In the laboratory, handle in a chemical

fume hood.

Respiratory protection: Air supplied breathing apparatus will be required if closed systems or effective local

exhaust ventilation cannot be provided. Self-contained breathing apparatus must be

available in case of emergency.

Hand protection: Butyl gloves. PVA gloves.

Eye protection: Safety glasses with side-shields.

Skin protection: Impermeable protective clothing.

Stability and reactivity

Chemical stability: Stable under normal conditions.

Conditions to avoid: Heat. Sources of ignition.

Materials to avoid: Oxidising agents. Strong acids. Acid chlorides. Acid anhydrides. Chloroformates.

Haz. decomp. products: In combustion, emits toxic fumes of carbon monoxide / dioxide, nitrogen oxides, nitrogen

and hydrogen chloride.

Disposal considerations

Disposal operations: Incineration on land.

Disposal of packaging: Empty containers are still hazardous and should be decontaminated and disposed of in

accordance with local regulations.

NB: The user's attention is drawn to the possible existence of regional or national

regulations regarding disposal.
